Abby Lee Miller of Dance Moms fame has been with diagnosed Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.The 51-year-old reality star, who was recently released from a Victorville, California prison, underwent a four-hour emergency operation Tuesday as doctors first thought she had a spinal infection, according to People.One of the Pittsburgh native's doctors, Dr. Hooman M. Melamed, told the magazine, 'It was not an infection, it was a type of a non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma - it’s a type of a cancer.'Melamed, an orthopedic spine specialist based out of Marina Del Rey, California, said an oncologist will be brought on to 'figure out what the next steps are as far as chemotherapy or radiation or more spine surgery.'Depending on the tumor type, depending on the sensitivity of the tumor - it just depends the type but I feel more than yes, she will undergo chemotherapy or radiation,' the doctor said. Melamed told the publication that the Dance Moms instructor initially sought treatment amid 'excruciating' and in her neck and a weak arm, leading to the immediate surgery.Melamed said that the surgery on Miller was essential, as 'she was not doing well' and 'her blood pressure was bottoming out. 'If we didn’t do something,' the doctor said, 'she was going to die.'Melamed told People 'there’s a chance this can spread to any part of the body,' as 'this is probably coming from somewhere else.'We don’t know where the source is,' he added. 'Any tumor that spreads anywhere is automatically Stage 4, but we have not determined the stage yet.Miller was 'encouraged' as she recovery in an ICU, according to her doctor.It's been a difficult few years for Miller, who had been in custody at Victorville Federal Correctional Institution from July until late last month in connection with her bankruptcy fraud conviction. She lost 100 pounds while in custody while at the penitentiary.Last month, she began staying at a Long Beach, California halfway house, where she's tentatively slated to stay until May 25.
